
Jon Pembroke Kelly, M.D., F.A.A.O.S.

Dr. Kelly moved to the San Diego area while serving as a physician with the United States Navy. During his Naval career he practiced as an ER physician at the Cubi Naval Hospital, Subic Bay, Philippines, He also practiced Orthopaedics at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Hospital in Cuba and he served in the Persian Gulf. At the end of his military practice he served as the Head of Hand Surgery at the Naval Hospital Regional Medical Center, San Diego. Dr. Kelly has been in practice in the Escondido area since leaving his Naval Military Orthopaedic Practice.
Dr. Kelly practices general orthopaedics but has a specialized interest in the upper extremities. He completed fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery, and microvascular training and artery repairs.
Dr. Kelly's fellowship training, at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in upper extremity and microvascular surgery, provided extensive training in reconstructive wrist and hand surgery, tendon transfers, microvascular repair and congenital hand anomalies.
While in the Navy, Dr. Kelly practiced orthopaedic surgery at the Naval Hospital, San Diego; He received extensive training and experience in the diagnosis, management and surgical treatment of complex upper extremity problems.
While serving in the United States Navy, Dr. Kelly was deployed overseas for 2 years to the Republic of the Philippines, one year to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and to the Persian Gulf on the USS Cleveland and the USS Tripoli. He completed his military career as a commander, and was honorably discharged with The Navy Commendation, The Meritorious Unit Citation, The Nave Unit Citation, The Southeast Asia Service Medal, The Battle Efficiency Medal, and The National Defense Medal.
Dr. Kelly is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgery. He is past Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Palomar Hospital, the past District Councilor of the San Diego County Medical Society, and past member of the San Diego County Medicolegal Committee.
He was a past Physician's Representative to the California State Legislature, and past California Delegate to the American Medical Association. He was chosen by his orthopaedic peers as one of the "Top Doctors in San Diego" as featured in the "San Diego Magazine".
He is a member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic surgeons, the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the San Diego County Medical Society, the US Naval Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the California Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Kelly's current areas of orthopaedic specialization include Worker's Compensation, General Office Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic surgery, Athroscopic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Total Joint Arthroplasty, Microsurgery, Trauma Orthopaedic Surgery, and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Kelly is affiliated with Palomar Medical Center, La Jolla Surgery Center and Carlsbad Surgery Center.

Dr. Kelly is a fellowship trained Hand Specialist.
He treats all injuries and conditions of the Hand and Wrist including fractures, sprains, arthritis, instability, tendonitis, tendon lacerations, carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion cyst, and trigger finger.
